What To Expect On Your Visit

At the beginning of a session with a new client we discuss their expected outcomes from the treatment, therapy or coaching which can all be combined where appropriate for the horse or rider.

Together we agree a plan of action to achieve positive progress.

Smart Bowen Therapy is a treatment like no other - there is no force or manipulation used, it is a very gentle treatment that enables the body to adjust as it sees fit. Bowen therapists are not vets and therefore they do not diagnose.

Equine Bowen therapists are bound by the Veterinary Surgery (Exemptions) Order 1962 which requires consent to treat all animals.

Smart Bowen works over stress points in the muscles also known as trigger points, it is these which suffer from the accumulation of the stresses of every day life. For horses in hard work these stress points are under even greater strain.

Although Bowen therapists do not treat conditions, it has been shown that Bowen can support and increase the speed of recovery and help horses that display various symptoms including:

  • Sudden changes in behaviour

  • Unwillingness to go forward

  • Irritability

  • Shortened stride length

  • Leg strain, stifle & hock issues

  • All back and soft tissue problems

  • TMJ, head, poll discomfort

  • Cushing's disease

  • Lymphatic Issues name but a few.
